A World Created by Metal 3D Printing

Product designers often unconsciously design around forms that are easy to manufacture using molds or machining.
While this assumption produces beautiful, highly refined designs, it may also constrain free thinking.
Taking Mitsubishi Electric's metal 3D printer, which requires neither molds nor machining, as the starting point, we explored whether focusing on forms that are easy to 3D-print in metal, and forms that only metal 3D printing can achieve, would generate entirely new designs.

We address social challenges with empathy for people's feelings, designing new relationships between beautiful objects and exciting experiences. By recognizing early signs of change in society and considering them deeply, we bring unseen ideas to life and create meaningful value that resonates with people.
We believe this leads to smiles and happiness for everyone touched by Mitsubishi Electric Group products and services, helping realize a vibrant, comfortable society. We invite you to discover the Integrated Design Center's continuing exploration.
