Osaka–Milan Online Art Museum: International Exchange through Art

A photograph taken in Milan is reborn in Osaka through a photographic technique from the 1800s.
The Osaka–Milan Citizens' Online Art Museum is an international cultural-exchange project connecting the sister cities of Osaka and Milan through photography and art. It was selected for Osaka City's sister-city exchange promotion subsidy in both 2025 and 2026.
Classical photograph® is an old-yet-new creative art that combines nineteenth-century photographic processes with contemporary digital technology. Photographs taken by Milan residents are sent digitally to Osaka, where Japanese artists use various historical techniques to transform them into unique works.
Digital and analog, tradition and the present, Osaka and Milan: connecting different eras, techniques and cultures, the project offers new forms of cross-cultural exchange through photography.
